Boomwhackers building blocks children’s songs book 1

Introducing the Boomwhackers building blocks childrens songs book vol 1

This volume covers the fundamentals of music in a fun, visual, and highly accessible way. It is designed specifically for early years education, this innovative resource replaces traditional notation with a colour-coded system that makes reading and understanding music intuitive from the very first lesson. Part of the acclaimed Building Blocks series by Cathy Shinaberry, this volume features 12 familiar children’s songs presented as detachable song charts.

Each chart uses coloured shapes to represent pitch and rhythm, helping students develop essential musical skills such as note recognition, timing, and left-to-right reading without the barriers of standard notation. Perfectly suited for use with Boomwhackers tuned percussion tubes or Chroma-Notes bells, this book is an ideal classroom tool for engaging group learning, encouraging participation, and building confidence in early-stage musicians.

Unique visual learning Unlike traditional sheet music, this resource uses a colour-coded system of shapes to represent musical concepts. This approach allows young learners to grasp pitch and rhythm visually, making it particularly effective in classroom environments where accessibility and engagement are key. Students can begin playing almost immediately, building confidence while developing core musical literacy skills.

Builds musical foundations By introducing left-to-right reading, pitch relationships, and rhythmic duration in a simplified format, this book lays the groundwork for future musical development. It bridges the gap between play and formal learning, helping students transition naturally towards standard notation as their skills progress.
